The COVID-19 pandemic has made the last eighteen months hard for many around the world. It has shaken global healthcare structures and oral health has been no exception. This in turn has caused an upturn in the numbers of people suffering from untreated dental issues, which is then leading to an increase in cavities. There are many reasons for this, including patients’ and the public’s lack of access to care, teams re-focused or dental practices closed, or a personal decision to forgo care due to fear of close contact with others. Without contact with their care teams, there may be a lack of focus on oral hygiene at home for many reasons, including lack of resources such as toothpaste or knowledge of what to do.
The ACFF Global Team is asking Chapters, members and supporters to run local campaigns aimed at breaking down any barriers in their local communities and send the message help us to help you keep cavity free by encouraging the public to re-engage with their oral health and with their care teams.
The ACFF Global Team supports you as much as they can and so we have created a library of free resources that are available on our website here: https://www.acffglobal.org/acff-projects/wcffday/.
The ACFF Global Team would love to hear about the amazing activities that you plan and run in both the lead up to the day and for WCFFDay itself, so please let them know at admin@acffglobal.org, with any photos you can take, so that they can advertise your great work on their social media and website.
