Coronavirus is continuing its spread across the world with millions of confirmed cases around the world .
It is spreading rapidly in many countries and the number of cases is still climbing throughout the days .
The North African Countries are unfortunately not spared. Hence, they are imposing a range of prevention and containment measures.
This pandemic has also changed the way people access health care including the dental care .
Due to the characteristics of dental settings where a large number of droplets and aerosols could be generated, the risk of cross infections may be high between dental practioners and patients ; thus, very strict and effective measures and protocols have been taken based on the scientific recommendations. As a prevention measure , only urgent dental diseases that require immediat treatment are being taken care of .
As for people who are quarantined to help prevent the spread of the virus, they should continue to be able to maintain a good oral hygiene in order for them to prevent cavities , gum diseases and other conditions. Also, we emphasize on the fact that they should not visit a dental office during the pandemic unless they have a dental emergency.
Here are some few advices for practicing good oral care at home and keeping a shiny Smile :
- Brush your teeth with fluoridated toothpaste twice per day for 20 seconds at least .
- Consume a lot of water to keep your body hydrated.
- Avoid or at least reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks
- Use a floss to clean the spaces in between your teeth and gums and remove plaque buildup.
